Aaah is a nomadic 🌍 creative practice led by creative couple Ryan Len and Ella Zheng. ✨
"I know you both as Ryan and Ella,
but I don't know you as Aaah."
For those who don't know, we're a graphic designer-illustrator couple who've been in the industry for more than a decade. If you're in the know, you might recognise us. If not, we probably look like a couple of clueless romantics who decided to gamble with fate.
Before becoming Aaah, the studio was known as The Workbench, founded by Ryan in 2014.
For a decade, we’ve tackled creative projects, crafting purposeful ideas and thoughtful solutions across all disciplines, all while wondering if we were slowly losing our souls to the grind. Ryan had been toying with the idea of changing the studio’s name for a few years—feeling it no longer represented who we were or what we did. But rebranding seemed like a herculean task, especially after guiding clients through the same hell. He didn’t have the guts then either—what if people forgot about us? What if our clients ran for the hills?
As our 10th anniversary loomed, we knew it was now or never. The name “Aaah” came to mind, inspired by the Japanese hiragana 'あ', which, much like our sanity, can express a wide range of emotions—from surprise to anger to the realisation that life is just one big cosmic joke. It perfectly captures how we want people to feel when they see our work— engaged, expressive, and having fun. Moving forward as Aaah, we’re embracing a nomadic approach, travelling the cosmos 🌍 in search for new ways to share our work and reignite our jaded, depressive souls, and maybe, just maybe, find some meaning in all this madness.
Because what doesn’t kill you makes you more marketable. Whether you need graphic design, illustration, or a touch of creative madness, we’re here to turn your daydreams into visual reality—one project at a time.
