Aaah is a nomadic 🌍 creative practice led by creative couple Ryan Len and Ella Zheng. ✨
"I know you both as Ryan and Ella,
but I don't know you as Aaah."
For those who don't know, we're a graphic designer-illustrator couple who've been in the industry for more than a decade. If you're in the know, you might recognise us. If not, we probably look like a couple of clueless romantics who decided to gamble with fate.
Before becoming Aaah, the studio was known as The Workbench, founded by Ryan in 2014.
For over a decade, we’ve been creating with purpose—turning big ideas into thoughtful solutions across art, design, and strategy. At some point, our studio's name no longer felt like us, and rebranding became something we knew we had to do.
Then, we hit 10 years and knew it was now or never. "Aaah" came to us, inspired by the Japanese hiragana 'あ'. As the first character of the alphabet, あ is foundational, capturing the essence of simplicity and emotion. Like our sanity, it covers everything from surprise and frustration to that cosmic moment when you finally see life’s one big joke. It’s exactly how we want our work to make people feel—engaged, expressive, and maybe even having a bit of fun in the process.
Now, as Aaah, we’re roaming the world 🌍 looking for new ways to share our work, reignite our jaded souls, and maybe, just maybe, find some meaning in the chaos. Along the way, our work has picked up global recognition, including a Tokyo Type Directors Club Award and features in Asia Pacific Design, The Straits Times, Behance Showcase, and more.
We turn complexity into clarity with design that works. Whether you need graphic design, illustration, or a touch of creative madness, we’re here to turn your daydreams into visual reality—one project at a time.
